Wishing everyone reading this site a Merry Christmas.

To 'the team' an extra special Christmas wish and thank you for everything this year.

To Imogen & Chutney, Jack & Connie, Mia & Ketchup, Imogen & Fudge and Alex (who is probably too grown up now!) & Lili I hope Santa brings you everything you wished for.

Fudge news!!

"Well what a fabulous boy Fudge is. I love him to bits. He has had a bridle, saddle on, had a football bounced around him, had people talking to him like he has 1 braincell and is a newborn baby! watched children, ducks, kittens, dogs going loopy around him with bemusement, had a rug flapped about, been brushed,- a lot... been hugged and kissed, a lot.... had his tail washed, had an injection from vet, had his feet trimmed - no problem.

We can't wait to start shows.

Amilas Cassiopeia aka Sophie left for her new home home today. There is no doubt this filly thinks she is something special, I hope for all concerned she is right. She is certainly a chip off the ol' block and I wish Lexy the best of luck with her and look forward to seeing her in the show ring soon.

30 November 2008

'Fudge' (Amilas Cornelius) left here today to start his life as a grown up pony with his proud new owner. I wish Imogen and Kirsty all the very best with him, I know he will be loved and fussed over and expect plenty of updates to put on here in due course.

29th November 2008

'Kara' (Amilas Chikara) ended her youngstock show career today at Notts and Derby Charity Horse Show. To say it was cold in an understatement but a good day was had all round with Kara winning her 3yo medal class and then standing 2nd Reserve in the Supreme 3yo Championship contributing to a nice stash of sashes taken home by the Glanhayl Stud. Thank you Sam for all your hard work.

Whilst I've been offline Kara also won at West Mercia WPCA show and was 2nd at Midlands WPCA adding to an amazingly consistent career (so far) of which we are all very proud.

07th October 2008

'Connie the Pink' (Amilas Confetti) traveled to Wales last week in the excellent care of Paul and Vanessa, Magri stud to join the MarshIsland Stud as Jack's new LeadRein pony. Within a day of her arrival she has settled in well and Jack was already off enjoying his new steed. I wish the whole team many hours of fun and the best of luck with her.

09 September 2008 - Ketchup News

Just as the constant rain, mud and shortening days make you wonder why you do this you get an e-mail like the one below ...

"I thought I would send you some information as to what he has been doing since I purchased him in February. I wanted a pony for my three year old daughter Mia as a lead rein pony, but had been traveling the length and bredth of the country seeing and trying alleged 'bombproof lead rein' ponies. After Mia had been rodeo'ed off the latest 'bombproof lead rein' I had all but given up finding a pony. Then I saw an advert for ' Ketchup'.
Nichola was concerned that he was hairy and muddy, and that he hadn't done enough to be a lead rein pony. I assured her that I just wanted to see his temperament as I would know straight away if he would be o.k. I was glad that he hadn't really done much, because there would be no knots to unravel. As soon as I saw him I knew he was the one! He was fat, muddy and hairy, but he was so kind. My little girl brushed him and fussed him, walked all round him and he didn't bat an eyelid. He then had tack on, and she had a little ride round the paddock on him. That was it! I bought him there and then!
We gave him a bit of time to settle in his new surroundings, not that he was bothered at all and carried on as if he'd been there all his life! Then we just got on with it. He has been the most fantastic lead rein pony I could ask for. He takes everything in his stride and his temperament is second to none. Mia runs up to him in the paddock and he just puts his head down so she can hug him! He has been to numerous shows this summer and has always been in the top four! The only thing that has marked him down is the fact that he sometimes puts his ears back when we trot because Mia is still so tiny that sometimes she bounces and is giggling so much! Can't blame him for that!!
He is just adorable, and has become a huge part of the family. We can't imagine life without him now.

I'm hoping that he will go on to do some more showing next year if I can find a jockey! I feel he's a bit wasted just doing a lead rein class, so it would be good to find someone who can do some bigger ridden classes with him as well, so if you know of anyone who may be interested I would be very glad to hear from them!

Anyway, I must sign off now, but I hope that has filled a gap for you?! I would like to thank you for breeding such a fantastic pony, and I will try to send you some pictures if I can work out how to do it!

Kindest regards,

Rowan (the current owner of Amilas Imperial)"

If anyone would like a "Ketchup" of their own Fudge and Stinky are now gelded and will soon be looking for their own little people to provide them with endless cuddles.

28th August 2008 - Bucks County Show

Bucks county show is our local county show and as the last Cuddy qualifier of the year attracts the great and the good of In-hand showing. In strong company its once again well done to Sam and Amilas Chikara on winning the open A & B youngstock class. Norash Peek-A boo had her second outing and was placed a very credible sixth, despite the fact she was mesmerised by the stalls and people and her owner (thats me) getting a word from the judge (and quite rightly so) about Boo's rather 'bonny' waistline.

16th August 2008 - Equifest

Congratulations to Sam and Amilas Chikara for winning their class and standing youngstock Champion at Equifest today. Kara seems to have decided that trying to outdo Dad in the movement stakes is actually quite easy after all.

Amilas Cassiopeia, Kara's baby sister is also showing that she is a chip off the ol' block and showing off at any excuse.

26th July 2008

Midlands WPCA Silver Medal Show -  Norash Peek-A-boo is one of the field ornaments, I have owned her for a long time but have never shown her .... until now. Although looking at everything as the whole experience was very new to her I was thrilled with her performance and her result being placed second in excellent company. This combined with some really positive feedback from her human 'auntie' means I'm sure Boo will be spotted in a show ring again sometime soon.

12th July 2008

Unexpected visitor

Usually stock tends to escape from our fields not into them but this morning I was greeted by an unusual site. As I did the usual check of mares and foals I was greeted by a black Limousin x heifer!

Yesterday morning a lorry hit the back of a livestock trailer traveling down the M1 motorway causing the trailer carrying 4 cows and the towing vehicle to turn over. Three of the cows were eventually rounded up a few miles from the motorway but 1 was missing.  Somehow (the fence is still intact) the very stressed heifer  managed to make her way into one of our small paddocks, much to the disgust of the two mares and foals resident in there! Perhaps she was looking for some company and thought they looked like cattle!

The family dogs were also traveling in the car, the others were found but 'Fly' who is very nervous is still missing. She has been spotted a number of miles from where the accident happened and we all hope she will be found and returned home as soon as possible.

12th July 2008

I just thought I'd share this photo of 'A, Confetti' aka Connie doing her 'final exams' having her first ride round at a show. A very busy show with gale force winds and all sorts flapping and flying about proved no challenge at all to Connie who look everything in her stride. Thank you to Rebecca Jarvis who happily accepts a constant stream of ponies from here and is a true member of the team, being the ponies 'other home'.

I also had some news today from 'Amilas Imperial' aka Ketchup that he is now also out and about as a leadrein pony, doing well and bringing home the ribbons. Hopefully we will have some more information and photos of him soon.

5th July 2008

We had a lovely day out at Northleach Welsh Breeds show last week. Amilas Chikara produced and Shown by Sam of the Glanhayl stud got to have a jolly and she trotted into the ring tail flagged and snorting showing she could go just like dad when she chooses too.

17th June 2008

Sorry for the lack of updates in the last month.

The foals are growing up fast with the two Chestnut colts turning into the field mafia, they are into everything and nothing and nobody is safe!

Rebecca and Pickle have been quietly getting along doing their thing and in addition Pickle has been joined by his daughter Connie who is being prepared for her future role as a leadrein pony. Once again Many thanks to Rebecca Jarvis for all her help in making sure the ponies more than just ornaments.

Many Thanks to the Royal Veterinary College also who in the last week have seen a lot of my colts who are now not so colts. These will be for sale as ridden ponies in due course, unless anyone wants an A C or Part bred young gelding to show?

16th May 2008

Dream 'the airship' finally foaled our last foal of 2008, a really smart but HUGE grey colt by Sunwillow Jubilee. This foal carries four crosses of the legendary Sunwillow Bernina so he will be interesting to watch as he matures.

11th May 2008

Once again well done to Rebecca Jarvis and Norash Beauson being placed 2nd (again!) in the Open M&M small Breeds class at Newark and Nottinghamshire County Show.

3rd May 2008

Congratulations to Rebecca Jarvis and Norash Beauson being placed 2nd in a strong Ridden M&M Small Breeds class at Leicester County Show

A massive thank you to Pete and Tanina Rushton who have gifted me Yaverland Treasure, your generosity is hugely appreciated. I can't explain the magnitude of this gift unless you have had the pleasure to meet this mare, she is special and she knows it!

30th April 2008

Colts 2 - Fillies. 1 Amilas Mazurka foaled a big Chestnut (roan?) colt this morning, an almost matched pair with Tabasco, who, after giving us 12 hours of worry in now doing really well. Maggie has been an absolute angel, assisting us when required with endless patience and although this is her first foal she is proving to be an exceptional mum.

22nd April 2008

Coral finally gave up in her waiting game and foaled at a very respectable  5pm so we could all witness the arrival of a Palomino (will go grey) filly by Squid complete with 4 white socks and a perfect blaze.

20th April 2008

Its been a busy day! To kick it off Treasure foaled a beautiful, & precocious colt foal who has been given the name Tabasco! Photos Soon Coral feeling left out, decided to join the fun by waxing up.

Two more arrivals swiftly followed, Melody made a very welcome return home accompanied by Lili who I am really looking forward to showing this year.

Somewhere amongst this confusion Pickle also managed to go to a show!

13th April 2008

Having had an unplanned weekend off last week It was Rebecca & Pickle's turn to get their season off the starting blocks.

Having got over the shock of being at a 'Party' with a saddle on his back he was a good boy with just a couple on baby mistakes and was placed 2nd in the NPS intermediate M&M ridden small breeds and 4th in the PUK novice at NPS area 13.

30th March 2008

The summer showing season got off to a good start this weekend and we even got one day of Spring like weather!

Sam Morsley's Amilas Chikara continued her season in good form being placed 2nd in the 2&3yo filly class at the Midland WPCA Medal show.

Squid had his first outing in stallion classes at Forest of Dean Stallion Show where he stood a very credible 4th. Although Squid was showing his immaturity when the winner is a very on form twice RWAS Reserve Male Champion & a Cuddy finalist you can't complain at being beaten!

24th March 2008

Spring seems to be taking ages to come so news is thin on the ground. The snow and high winds over Easter delayed our anticipated start to the showing season but watch this space. We have been busy and all members of the team will be out and about soon.

We wish Rebecca Jarvis, Sam Morsley, Stacey Barker & Jason Akenbrook the best of luck with their respective 'Amilas' projects.
